About this event

After Virtual Commencement on Saturday, June 12, keep the celebration going by joining our 2021 OCC Commencement Car Parade. Every graduate who attends will receive a free “Proud OCC Grad” yard sign.

TIMES:

Register based on the graduate's last name:

1 p.m. - Graduate last names A-K, line up at 12:30 pm

1:45 p.m. - Graduate last names L-Z, line up at 1:15 pm

LOCATION:

Orchard Ridge Campus - 27055 Orchard Lake Rd. Farmington Hills Mi 48334

  • All Graduates must enter off of the Orchard Lake Rd Entrance

DO:

  • Sign up for the parade at this link - one vehicle per graduate.
  • Wear a mask. While graduates and guests are not required to wear masks or face coverings while in their enclosed vehicle, they are encouraged any time windows are rolled down and required when interacting with staff (for instance, during check-in).
  • Wear your cap (and gown, if you ordered one). Invite members of your immediate household to ride with you and share in your celebration. While graduates can drive themselves, we highly recommend that graduates experience the celebration as a passenger, so you can focus on the celebration fully.
  • We will be announcing graduate names. Please decorate a large poster with your name and adhere it to the passenger side of your vehicle. Please write big and legibly! Decorate your car (attach a grad flag, use washable paint … get creative!).
  • Faculty, staff and leadership will line the parade route to cheer you on. They will be located on the passenger side of your vehicle, so graduates are encouraged to sit on the passenger side of their car. Share on social media.
  • Share on social media. Tag us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and use the hashtag #OCCGrad2021.

DON’T:

  • Arrive before your time slot.
  • Get out of your car.
  • Take off your mask while interacting with others outside your vehicle.
  • Stop your car while the parade is moving.
